Springbrook beats Woodlawn
to win state 4A North finals
Mar. 3 - Springbrook won the state 4A North finals by defeating Woodlawn 55-44.  Joia Daniels, the Blue Devils' leading scorer, with 16 points, confined her scoring to the first and second quarters.  In the middle, junior Eryn Withers picked up the slack, scoring nine of her 14 points in the third quarter to prevent Woodlawn from pulling away.  Kristin Bradley added 12 points, Wilize Maleambo 7, Taryn Christian 5, Ashely Moore 1.  Post, Gazette

Springbrook controls Blake

Devils beat Walter Johnson in OT 
Jan. 9 - Eryn Withers buried a long jumper at the fourth-quarter buzzer to send the game into overtime.  With less than a minute left in OT and Springbrook ahead by a basket, Ashley Burgess made two free-throws to seal the 54-49 victory.  Burgess scored 11 points for the game, Joia Daniels 10, Eryn Withers 9, Taryn Christian 7, Wilize Maleombho 7. Devils overpower Northwest in
Springbrook holiday tournament
Dec. 28 - Joia Daniels scored 15 points to lead Springbrook over Northwest, 56-34, in the opening round of Springbrook's holiday tournament. Taryn Christian added 10 points, Eryn Withers 8, Kristin Bradley 4, Ashley Burgess 4, Eyreal Jones 4, Wilize Maleambo 4, Ashley Moore 3, Leah Arthur 2, Britnay Webbe 1 0-0 2. Dec. 19 - Five Blue Devils scored in double figures as Richard Montgomery fell 63-50.  Tayrn Christian led Springbrook's offense with 14 points, followed by Joia Daniels with 12, Wilize Maleombo 12, Eryn Withers 10, and Ashley Burgess 3.  The Blue Devils won their fourth straight game. Gazette

Blue Devils start the season
with win over Damascus
Dec. 6 - Springbrook edged Damascus 44-42 to start the 2005-06 girls basketball season.  Damascus was no. 18 in the Washington Post pre-season top twenty rankings. 

2005-06 season preview
Springbrook's girl's basketball team (22-4 last season) is expected to be the team to beat in this season's Montgomery 4A East region.  Rookie coach Suzette Thom has an experienced cast led by senior F Joia Daniels, junior G Taryn Christian and junior G Eryn Withers.  According to coach Thom, the Blue Devils will depend on senior G Ashley Burgess to feed a talented crew of quick swing players.  Gazette preview, Examiner pre-season rankings.
