Campbell, Devils adjust
Dec. 1 - Life goes on.  Folarin Campbell is a freshman at George Mason University.  Springbrook is preparing for another season amid high expectations, albeit without the player who broke 13 school records in three seasons.  Here's a look at how each is adjusting to life without the other.  Gazette

2004-05 Journal  Preview
- Last season: 24-4,  4A West Champ.
- Coach: Keith Adams (third year).
- Returning starter: C Louis Woodland (Sr., 6-4).  Others to watch: F Sheridan Price (Jr., 6-6), G David Brewster (Jr., 6-5), F Andrew Dickson (Jr., 6-3), G Marc Dawes (Sr., 5-9), G Othello Banaci (So., 5-8).

The prolific duo of Folarin Campbell (George Mason) and Louis Brookins (Maryland-Eastern Shore) have moved on.  Can the Blue Devils replace their combined 48 points per game?

The prime candidates to fill the scoring void are Brewster, who has the size and the Division I offers to match his predecessors, and Woodland (7 ppg, 5 rpg), a 225-pound bruiser who has done grunt work for two seasons, but now is ready for a starring role.  “He’s my life line,” said Adams.  “He’s just a game changer.”  The other starters are Dickson, who played JV last year at St. John’s, Dawes, a reserve point guard last year, and Price, who made the varsity last season, left midseason, but is back.

2004 - 05 Gazette Preview>
Dec. 1 - With 2003-04 All-Met Folarin Campbell palying for George Mason University and All-Gazette first teamer Louis Brookins at UMD-Eastern Shore, the Blue Devils are a radically altered team.  With their departures, Campbell and Brookins, who led the program to its first Class 4A state final appearance since 1995, left the team without 69 percent of its scoring from last year.  So why is coach Keith Adams smiling?  "Life after Folarin and Louis is good," he said. "Never in my 15 years of doing this at the high-school level have I been more excited about a season than this one.  We have transferred from being a good team to a program.

Several young and/or relatively inexperienced Blue Devils are going to have to grow up in a hurry, namely 6-foot-5 forward David Brewster. Last year, despite his sophomore status, Brewster forced his way into the rotation with a precocious nose for the basket.  This year, he'll be one of the top scorers, along with 6-4 center Louis Woodland, whose varsity experience and veteran leadership will be the glue that holds this team together.  The rest of the starting lineup are senior Marc Dawes, a varsity backup last year, and juniors Andrew Dickson (6-3) and Sheridan Price (6-6).  Tops off the bench are 6-4 senior forward Ben Farrow, juniors Darryl Kornegay (forward) and James Bae (guard), and sophomore Othello Banaci (backup point guard).  more . . .

Coach Adams' pre-season update
Nov. 23 - The varsity team roster is finally set.  We have 5 seniors, 8 juniors and 2 sophomores. Here is a mini breakdown by positions:

BACKCOURT: Marc Dawes and David Brewster will start in the backcourt this year.  They both have had a great off-season going to camp, lifting and running.  Othello Banaci will back up Marc as a sophomore as he continues to develop.  Rounding out the guard core up Carl Genephat, James Bae, Esheance Moseley and Siam Shaid.

FRONTCOURT: Andrew Dickson, Sheridan Price, and Louis Woodland round out the frontcourt. Louis is returning for his 3rd year of Varsity play and is also a team Captain. Andrew and Sheridan provide a lot of size and scoring punch from their positions. Backing them up will be Ben Farrow and Darryl Kornegay.  Both have Varsity experience from last season.  Rounding out the team we have Ade Adetoyse, Brainerd Erhiawarien and Jordan Sawadogo.
