make Washington Post Spring All-Met Teams
Congratulations
to Decelia Willacy
for making the Washington Post All-Met gymnastics team. In naming
her to the team, the Post described Decelia as "Montgomery County's most
dominant gymnast for the third year in a row, winning all-around titles
at the county and state championships." Two other Blue Devils also
received All-Met honors - Erin Ostrove, honorable
mention in gymnastics, and Jason Hessler,
honorable mention in bnaseball.
Softball team
playoff run ends with loss to Watkins Mill
Springbrook's terrific
softball season ended with a loss to Watkins Mill in the Maryland 4A West
Region title game. Wash.

The
varsity completed a 13-8 season with three playoff victories before falling
in the West Region game. The JV closed with a perfect 14-0 record.

Willacy &
Ostrove are State Gymnastics Champs
May 11 - Decelia
Willacy and Erin Ostrove finished first and second all-around at the State
Champsionship Meet held at Seneca Valley High School. Willacy placed
first in the balance beam, floor exercise, and uneven bars. Ostrove
won the vault competition, took second in floor exercise, third on uneven
bars, fourth on balance beam. more

Gymnasts excel
at County Meet
May 4 - Decelia
Willacy won her third consecutive county all-around title, Erin Ostrove
finished second, and Amber Hardy had outstanding performances. The
team placed fourth overall and Decelia, Erin, and Amber all qualified for
the State Championship Meet (Tues., May 11, Severna Park High School).

you haven't noticed, the boys lacrosse team is having a great season. Read

Blue Devils
spring sports teams off to terrific starts
Mar. 27 - All of
a sudden spring is here and Springbrook's spring sports are in full swing.
Varsity baseball is off to a great start, with lop-sided victories over
Einstein (11-1) and Wheaton (12-0) - check the baseball
website for the latest news. The softball
team also looks very strong, staying undefeated after games against
Wootton, Einstein, and Wheaton. Both the boys
lacrosse and the girls
lacrosse teams are also unbeaten so far, with wins over Kennedy and
Paint Branch, the boys and girls track
teams both scored victories over Wootton, and the gymnastics
team defeated Gaithersburg.
Winter teams
and athletes reap post-season honors
Springbrook's winter
sports teams compiled the best overall win-loss record of all Montgomery
County high schools! Following are some of the season's highlights.
The boys
basketball varsity finished the season 24-4
and runner-up in the state championship. The boys JV team had a stellar
season record of 17-1. Folarin Campbell
and Louis Brookins
were both named to the MCPS Senior All-Star Team, the Jordan Capital Classic
regional team, First Team All-County by the Montgomery Journal, Gazette,
and Sentinel. Folarin Campbell also was named First Team All-Met
by the Washington Post and Player of the Year by the Journal, Gazette,
and Sentinel, while Louis Brookins made Fourth Team All-Met. Louis
Woodland made Honorable Mention All-County
for the Journal. Coach Keith Adams
was named boys basketball coach of the year by the Journal, Gazette, and
Sentinel, and head coach of the Jordan Capital Classic regional team.
The girls
basketball varsity had a season record of
21-4 and was 4A west semifinalist. Jada
Richardson made First-Team All-Gazette, First
Team Journal All-County, All-Met Honorable Mention, and the MCPS Senior
All-Star Team. Rachel Dumont
made Honorable Mention All-County for the Journal, Honorable Mention All-Gazette,
and the MCPS Senior All-Star Team. Keisha
Haddock made the All-Gazette Second Team and
Honorable Mention All-County for the Journal.
In swim
& dive, the boys were divisional champs,
the girls were divisional runners-up, and the combined team won the overall
divisional championship. Luke Wang
was named First Team All-County by the Journal, First Team All-Gazette,
First Team All-County by the Sentinel, and All-Met Honorable Mention.
In wrestling, Moses
Zinzou was named Honorable Mention All-County
(Journal), and in indoor track, Stephan McCoy
made Honorable Mention All-County (Journal). Whitney
Coleman was named to a high school All-America
cheerleading squad. Go Devils!

falls to Northwestern at the buzzer, 61 - 59
Mar. 13 - With 12
seconds left in the game, Folarin Campbell
drained a 3-point jumper from the left corner to force a tie. However,
instead of taking the game to overtime, Northwestern pushed downcourt and
scored as time ran out. more

Girls baskeball
loss at the buzzer to Damascus
Mar. 6 - The girls'
playoff bid ended as Damascus made a last second shot to win 52 - 50.
The girls team had a tremendous season, finishing with a record of 21 -
4 and ranked 12 in the Washington Post top 20. Congratulations
Coach Tonya Banks and all of the team for a job extremely well done! more

Ice Hockey
players named Academic All-Stars
Mar. 3 - Andre
Havrylyshyn, Vishaal
Ohri, Doug Rigterink,
and Nick Wang
were named to the Maryland Scholastic Hockey League's Academic All-Star
team, and will play in an Academic All-Star game Monday, March 15, 6:30
pm at the Laurel Ice Gardens. The honors cap a very successful year
for the hockey team, which ended the season with 7 wins, 3 ties, 4 losses.

Swimmers cap
outstanding season at Metros
Feb. 28 - Heather
Alvord, Rachel
Glasser, and Luke
Wang made finals at the Washington Metropolitan
Interscholastic Championship Swim Meet. Luke took 3d place in 100
breast and 8th in 100 fly, setting school records in both events.
Heather finished 9th in 100 back and 17th in 200 free. Rachel placed
11 in 100 fly and 14th in 500 free. more

2003-04 was a tremendous
swim & dive season. The boys were undeated in dual meets for
the year, finishing with a 5 - 0 record. The girls posted a 4 - 1
record and the combined team ran away with the overall Division IV championship.
At the County Meet, Springbrook produced a county champion (Luke Wang)
in the 100 breast, as well as a 2nd in the 100 back (Heather Alvord) and
4th in the 100 fly (Rachel Glasser). more

Swim &
dive team captures Divisional Championship
Feb. 14 - Springbrook
captured the MCPS Division IV Championship with a combined boys and girls
score of 915 points, over 100 points better than runner-up Poolesville.
The boys team finished tops in the Division by far, over 60 points better
than Seneca Valley, and the girls came in just 4.5 points behind the top
girls team, Poolesville. more
